Not far from the center of activities around Nags Head, on North Carolina's Outer Banks, our comfortable four bedroom vacation cottage is a short walk to the village of Duck in one direction and to our community's private beach access in the other. There is an ocean view from the sun deck.
We worked on some projects in the winter of 2007. New hardwood floors have been installed in the upper level kitchen and great room, the main stairway, and the lower level hallway. Linda has expanded her herb garden which so many enjoy have enjoyed. All three exterior staircases have been replaced along with the upper level decking. We had gates put in at the top of each deck staircase to discourage tots and pets from tumbling down the stairs. In fall of 2008, finally, we got a dishwasher that really cleans the dishes. It has THREE WHIRLYGIGS!!! And one of our favorite projects was having new cushions made (February 2009) for the living room furniture covered with Sunbrella fabric for hopefully easy cleaning. We also purchased brand new really good mattresses for the king and queen beds in February of 2009, then a new mattress for the standard bed in the spring of 2010. Our spring, 2009, project was replacing the picnic table on the screened porch with four chairs, a couple of side tables, and a cheery little area rug.
Amenities include: 4 bedrooms (1K,1Q, 1Dbl, 1 bunk set + 1 twin), 2 1/2 baths, a well-equipped kitchen including a cupboard stocked with Penzey's herbs and spices (all new spring of 2010), 5 cable televisions (three with dvd), free wireless internet access, a cool screened porch off the dining room, hot tub (available mid-April to mid October), an enclosed outside shower with removeable shower head for washing tots and pets, laundry room with washer and dryer, beach chairs and toys, and games and puzzles. Shopping, restaurants, and the new Duck Town Park are within walking distance.
